In the process of making our M3 look much more harmonious (painting the entire lower area body color) and lowering the front end of the car, the time came to replace the stock 826M wheels. Those of us who are passionate about cars strongly believe that the good wheel design of the car is one of the most significant aspects of the vehicle. They can easily change a vehicle's appearance. However, it is important to choose them wisely.
On the market, there is a wide variety of products to choose from. BMW M3 aftermarket portfolio is particularly extensive. Our attention was drawn to a relatively new player from Germany, Edelweiss. The company offers dedicated wheels for the G80 platform with fantastic offsets. We always thought that stock 19 inch wheels in the front are too small and bring disproption to this vechicle. We went for the LT3 model (10.5x20 in the front and 11x20 in the back).
We gave our car a completely new look with this one change, which proves the importance of choosing the right wheel style for your vehicle. The design is aggressive, yet not overbearing. Since those wheels are dedicated to M3 G80 the offset is absolutely perfect. We are very happy with the rim quality. Finished in a champagne gold shade, it made our Toronto Red M3 a real head turner.
It is also important to pay attention to simple things. The car we purchased was spec'd in a quite unusual manner. In place of the carbon fiber roof, it has a sunroof option. It means that we are dealing with a large panel in body color. Since painting the entire roof was not an option, we decided to wrap it instead. Modern film solutions provide very good quality at a fraction of the cost of painting. As a general rule, black roofs improve the appearance of the car very often, and that was the case here as well. Additionally, a black roof was required for our next styling exercise, which we will describe in the next chapter... Stay tuned!
