It is always a lot of fun for automotive enthusiasts to attend car exhibitions. People come to show off their cars, talk shop, and check out the latest models. It's a chance for people to get up close and personal with cars that they may have only read about or seen in magazines. It's a great way to learn more about the car industry and meet new people. Moreover, it provides a great deal of business opportunities. Tokyo Auto Salon is no different. It is the perfect place for those who enjoy modified cars. We took the trip for the first time after the Covid pandemic to this uniqe show. After entering Makuhari Messe near Chiba we realized how much we had missed this place.
The Tokyo Auto Salon features dozens of modified automobiles of various styles. Slammed cars (very popular in Japanese culture), rally cars, VIP style, Eurostyle, 4x4s, OEM+ etc. There was no way to cover all of them, so we decided to pick our favourites. Taking our business core as a starting point, we focused on a few really intriguing BMWs. In addition to some privately owned vehicles, a few belong to one of the most prestigious BMW tuning shops in Japan, Studie AG (www.studie.jp). There were many attractive cars on display at Yokohma's stand, but this particular BMW G87 M2 was the cherry on top. This vehicle features a full Alpha-N carbon fiber package (hood, fenders, rear wing, diffuser), fantastic golden BBS RI-D and KW coilover suspension. This is an excellent example of how a little sports car can be tuned up with style. It looks very aggressive and reiminds the E36 GT version from 1995.
Another car that quickly caught our attention was the BWM M4 in Signal green, also belonging to Studie AG. Displayed at the BBS booth, it stole the show! It's the best example of how to build a show car the right way. It has all the goodies starting with carbon fiber M-performance package, BBS wheels, lowered KW suspension, Alpha-N hood and flashy color. This BMW is the essence of modification and it surely looks spectacular.
Tokyo Auto Salon 2024 was full of cars we wish to find in our garage. An alpine white BMW M3 E30 with tan interior or a Porsche 911 made entirely of carbon fiber are just a couple of examples to mention.
There is more to this show than just modifications themselves. It is here that you can find some of the rerest cars on the planet, such as the Brabus G Adventure XLP (displayed at Bond Osaka www.hosokawa.co.jp) or the Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 finished in a purple coated carbon fiber body!
If you ever have the opportunity to attend this show, do not hesitate to do so. There is nothing like it in the world and it is most definitely worth taking the trip to experience it! You won't regret it.
